Wastes
The Solid Waste Management Facility may receive
the following types of solid wastes subject to specific limitations in
the permit:

Agricultural waste

Ashes and air pollution control residues that are not classified as
hazardous waste.

Commercial waste
-
Compost
-
Construction waste
-
Debris
-
Demolition waste
-
Discarded material
-
Garbage
-
Household waste
-
Industrial waste meeting all criteria of the Waste Management Board's
Solid Waste Management Regulations (9VAC20-80-10 et seq.).

Inert waste
-
Institutional waste except anatomical waste from health care facilities
or infectious waste as specified in Waste Management Board's Infectious
Waste Regulations (9VAC20-120-10 et seq.).

Municipal solid waste
-
Putrescible waste, including occasional animal carcasses.

Refuse
-
Residential waste
-
Rubbish
-
Small amounts of scrap metal
-
Trash
-

Non-regulated hazardous wastes by specific approval by the Director
of the Virginia Department of Environmental only

approval for the disposal of a special waste at the solid waste management

1Tires will only be accepted if they are 24.5" or smaller,
free of rims or wheels and not encrusted with soil or rock. The are penalty
charges for tires deposited at the solid waste management facility that
do not meet these criteria. See Fees
for details. Special permission to dispose of larger tractor tires may
be obtained on a case-by-case basis by contacting the Solid Waste Disposal
Manager at (276) 645-3791 or
email bvasw@bristolva.org.
2White goods and bulk scrap ferrous and non-ferrous metals
must be separated from all other types of waste and deposited on the area
designated for receipt of white goods.
3Brush must be separated from all other types of waste
except bulk wood and be deposited on the incinerator waste receipt area.
4Bulk wood must be separated from all other types of waste
except brush and be deposited on the incinerator waste receipt area.
5Yard waste must be separated from all other types of
waste and be deposited on the yard waste composting area.
