Why
State mandates require the City of Bristol, Virginia to maintain a 25% recycling rate. In past years, the City has maintained a higher rate than required and strives to continue reaching higher rates over the coming years.

What
Materials accepted include newspaper, junk mail, phonebooks, magazines, catalogs, aluminum, #1 and #2 plastics, steel cans, tin cans, and cardboard. Glass will not be accepted at this time.

Where
In an effort to make recycling more convenient, the Recycling Center locations have been adjusted to be more centrally located throughout the City. All locations will now accept comingled and cardboard materials. All areas are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

  • Bonham Road & Old Airport Road (Athletic fields)
  • Washington - Lee Elementary School (900 Washington Lee Dr)
  • Lee Street & Scott Street (Gravel Parking Lot across from 220 Lee St)
  • Euclid Avenue & Division Street (Gene Malcolm Stadium, 1501 Euclid Ave)
  • Shakesville Road near Kings Mill Pike & Valley Drive (2103 Shakesville Rd)*

*Due to the large quantities of waste being placed in and around the recycle containers at this location, the hours of acceptance for this recycling location will change to the following:

Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Gates will remain locked during all other times.

Visit Google maps for directions.
