Participants will make a versatile "Market" basket
in two sessions. The finished craft may be used indoors or out.
The basket is perfect for garden tools, picnics, sewing, etc.

SUGAR HOLLOW RECREATION AREA
300 acre park with three lighted softball fields, 5 soccer fields(3 lighted), 75 site picnic area with 8 picnic shelters of various sizes, 74 unit campground with bath houses, Waldo Miles Retreat and pool, 2 playgrounds, 2 miles of paved walking paths, 3+ miles of wilderness trails. Wetlands aarea with 1500 feet of trails and boardwalks over creek and ponds. 2 regulation baseball fieldsare under construction at this facility.
WALDO MILES RETREAT
The retreat is available for public use on a reservation basis. The facility
contains a pavilion complete with a fully equipped kitchen. In addition, a pool
and bathhouse are available for retreat guests during the summer months. The
retreat also has two dormitory buildings which have bunk type sleeping quarters.
This facility is an excellent choice for business meetings, youth retreats,
family reunions, receptions, parties and company outings. Reservations can be
made by calling our office at (276) 645-PARK.
Senior Adult Activities Return to Top of Page
The Department's Senior Adult Division is operated from the Douglass Senior Center. The programming for the senior adult is centered around the theme of fun, fitness, and fellowship. Classes are available in arts & crafts, educational areas, wellness, nutrition and other topics of interest to the senior adult. The center offers a well-equipped wellness room with professional exercise equipment, two lounges, kitchen, ceramic studio and billiards room. The following is a sample of the ongoing programming at the center:
