The School Resource Officer Program has been implemented in an effort to maintain a safe learning environment, as well as, to improve cooperation between the police and schools in preventing delinquency and crime. The most important role of a School Resource Officer is to acquaint themselves with the students and provide them with a positive role model, while gaining their respect.

Our SRO's have worked hard to establish a relationship with the students and administration at both schools. They have accomplished these goals by spending time with the students, in and out of the classroom, teaching classes related to law, and attending after-school functions. They also give time to the student organizations and club activities. One of the SRO's main approaches to maintaining a secure school environment is their foot patrol techniques. This is just one of the many approaches implemented by our SRO's in assisting in providing the children of this community with a safe and secure environment while at school.

Some of the organizations that they devote their time to are Success by Six, Gang Prevention Task Force and assisting in establishing a Crisis Management protocol. Other duties may include acting as a liaison between the school and law enforcement, monitoring persons entering the school, vehicles, and traffic around the school, and other safety issues.
