Preparing a Subdivision Plat
Any time a property owner in Bristol, Virginia, intends to divide land, a licensed surveyor in the Commonwealth of Virginia must prepare a subdivision plat. A plat is also required if a property owner is moving a lot line or combining several lots into one lot.
Any plat that increases the number of lots must be considered by the
Planning Commission and approved by
City Council. Plats that do not increase the number of lots are reviewed and approved in-house.
Preliminary Subdivision Plats
All preliminary plats must be received at least 45 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.
A plat review fee must be paid when the plat is submitted. When platting 3 Lots or less, the fee is $50.00, plus $3.00 per lot. When platting 4 Lots or more, the fee is $150.00, plus $3.00 per lot.
Final Subdivision Plats
All final plats must be received at least 15 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.
A plat review fee must be paid when the plat is submitted. When platting 3 Lots or less, the fee is $50.00, plus $3.00 per lot. When platting 4 Lots or more, the fee is $150.00, plus $3.00 per lot.
