Available Services

The City of Bristol, Virginia, Transit System offers fixed-route service with convenient pickup and drop-off points along the routes, including:

  • The Exit 7 area
  • Kroger
  • Food City stores (Bonham Road and Euclid Avenue)

Bus Route Service

Three buses operate five days a week and cover more than 300 miles a day, with both programs offering convenient, inexpensive transportation to key locations. 

All Bristol, Virginia, Transit buses arrive, depart from, and return to the Downtown Transfer Center in the 800 block of State Street next to the Farmers Market.

The West Bristol and Falls/Walmart routes operate from 7 am until 6 pm each weekday.  The East Bristol route operates from 10 am until 6 pm every weekday. The Department of Social Services on Bristol East Road is now a permanent stop on the East Bristol bus route. If you need to visit DSS before 10 AM, you may take the Falls/Walmart bus and be dropped off at DSS upon request. If you need to take the East Bristol Route before 10:00 am, please call us at least one day in advance to schedule an appointment.

All of Bristol Virginia Transit's vehicles are ADA-accessible.  BVT shall make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, and procedures to ensure the continued ability of persons with disabilities to utilize the fixed-route service. Bristol Virginia Transit is pleased to offer Paratransit Service for persons who are unable to use the regular fixed-route bus service due to a disability. BVT provides this origin-to-destination service in accordance with Federal Transit Administration regulations. The paratransit fee is $2 per trip. Bristol Virginia Transit does not operate on City holidays. The following holidays are observed by the City of Bristol Virginia:

New Years Day, January 1

Martin Luther King Day, third Monday in January

Presidents' Day, third Monday in February

Memorial Day, last Monday in May

Juneteenth, June 19

Independence Day, July 4

Labor Day, first Monday in September

Columbus Day, second Monday in October

Veterans Day, November 11

Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday in November

The day following Thanksgiving, fourth Friday in November

Christmas Eve Day, December 24

Christmas Day, December 25

Holidays falling on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday and those holidays falling on Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.

If Christmas Day falls on Saturday, Christmas Eve will be observed on the preceding Thursday. If Christmas Day falls on Sunday or Monday, Christmas Eve will be observed on the preceding Friday, unless some other day is specified by the governor of the commonwealth for observation of Christmas Eve by state employees, in which event, such other day as so designated by the governor shall be observed as the Christmas Eve holiday by the city also.

All transit buses are ADA-accessible and we strive to offer our customers the most convenient and pleasant riding experience possible. Clean, well-maintained buses are an affordable alternative to walking or driving, and our courteous staff strives to meet the needs of all passengers.
