Providing a safe and secure environment for the operation of our cities courts is the responsibility of the Bristol Virginia Sheriffs Office. Dedicated, trained professionals provide court security in Juvenile and Domestic Relations, General District and Circuit Courts within the City. Deputies are experienced in courtroom security, high risk trial planning, search techniques, emergency procedures, CPR, juror handling and a myriad of other skills that result in efficient and effective service. Court security deputies participate in an on-going review and revision of security practices and policy for the Sheriffs Office. Deputies work closely with court clerks, prosecutors, judges and defense attorneys to communicate courtroom procedures that ensure everyone’s safety.
In addition, court service deputies handle and serve over 10,000 pieces of process annually, that includes arrest warrants, detinue process and subpoenas.
